trouble logging on with a new cheepie android phone

Postby roger@brisbane » Fri Sep 12, 2014 7:57 am

Hi Guys,

Love your work !!

I am trying to set up a cheap android phone (AU $89.00 ex pre-paid) ex Telstra AU to run Skynet/ Pogs - I can't log in on this phoneand I think all my ID and passwords are correct.

I have just had it "unlocked" from Telstra, now with no SIM, running over my house WiFi

Probably not on the list of "preferred" devices - see below the specs and url. It should work OK !! (My Samsung original 7 inch tablet GPT-1000 running Gingerbread 2.3.6 is still slowly crunching Skynet/POGS)

Specs are
3G Android handset
4.0" capacitive touch screen
Android 4.2.2 operating system, Kernel 3.4.5, build ZTE_T809_M01
Dual core 1.3GHz CPU with 512MB RAM
Telstra Easy UI
Bluetooth 3 with stereo headset support
2 Mega pixel camera, with zoom and auto-focus
FM Radio, MP3 Player and ringtones, A-GPS
4GB flash memory
Expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD

Kindest Regards

G'day Alex

Thanks for your reply - I have installed the BOINC file you suggested but still have problems exclusive to POGS !!

pogs error message on phone ZTE T809 reads :-

"fitsedwrapper needs 161.10MB more disk space. You currently have 315.74 MB available and it needs 476.84 MB"

Windows Explorer, running on Windows 8.1, shows 1.30GB free of 1.31GB internal phone memory storage when attached via USB cable (no SD)

As we speak, on this phone , SETI loads up and is running happily with my current setup !!

Don't we just love computers, programming nightmares and their setups !!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards
Roger

Most android phones of 2 sets of storage.
The first is the internal storage and is used by apps as the default place to store data and the second is external storage, often an SD card (but not always). This second storage is normally the one that shows up when plugged into a computing and I imagine would be the 1.3GB free.
Boinc will be trying to use the internal storage, which apparently is full. You should be able to confirm this on your phone by going to settings -> then storage.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can set BOINC to use the external memory yet, so for now you will have to clean up some space on the main drive.

NativeBoinc http://nativeboinc.org/, also available from the Google Play Store, offers an installation option that puts it on the SD card. That solved this very problem on my Galaxy Y Duos. There is a disclaimer that this is not recommended for reasons I have not investigated, but it seems there is no other choice at present when there is not enough internal memory.

G'day All

Success from the info from MBO

BOINC Native is now running and processing 2 files simultaneously when the extra Micro SD card installed.

Thanks to you both for your help
